Fuel savings with Eco Hard sandwich panels!

What many bodywork constructors do not yet know is that Pas Panelen now has a more sustainable and lighter alternative to plywood panels: Eco Hard sandwich panels. Read here how this saves you fuel.

Bodywork construction is a conservative world. Logical, because reliability and safety are perhaps the most important values when building a trailer. For years, the vast majority of new trailers have been built with plywood panels. What many bodywork constructors do not yet know is that Pas Panelen now has a more sustainable and lighter alternative to plywood panels: Eco Hard sandwich panels. This allows you to realize serious fuel savings for your customers without making major concessions to the strength of the superstructure.

Eco Hard Environmentally friendly alternative plywood

The inside of the Eco Hard sandwich panels is not only literally green in color. The hard green foam is also figuratively green, as it is made from recycled unusable soda bottles. Moreover, Eco Hard sandwich panels are lighter than traditional plywood panels. The fuel savings that bodybuilders realize for their customers with Eco Hard sandwich panels not only have a beneficial effect on costs. Reducing fuel consumption naturally also has a positive impact on the environment. So win-win.

Savings calculation example

Exactly how much profit the use of the Eco Hard panels yields compared to plywood panels differs per situation. As an example, we assume a structure with 50 m2 of panels. Assuming 20 mm thick core material, 1 m3 of core material is used in the total construction. Plywood has a density of 650 kg/m3, Eco Hard a density of 250 kg/m3. This means a weight saving for the total structure with Eco Hard sandwich panels of 400 kg. A carrier can therefore transport an additional 400 kg of cargo with the same amount of fuel, or save the fuel required to transport 400 kg of cargo from A to B. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) already showed in 2008 in scientific research that 100 kg of weight savings can save up to 0.5 liters of fuel per 100 km.

Return on investment Eco Hard sandwich panels

The purchase costs of the Eco Hard sandwich panels are a fraction higher than those of plywood panels. Due to the fuel savings, the extra investment is in most cases recouped within a year. This makes it not only a profitable investment, but also very good for the environment! Pas Panelen makes many types of sandwich panels, view our products.
